The Institute for Quality of Life recently published their ranking of the happiest cities in the world. Because happiness does not mean the same thing to everyone, and different cities throughout the world face different challenges, they determined it is impossible to pick the happiest city on earth but rather grouped 250 cities into 3 groups: GOLD (1-37, no rank), SILVER (38-100) and BRONZE (101-250).
“It is most appropriate to create a group of cities that can be included in a wide group developing towards the happiest, where education, inclusive policies, economy, mobility, environmental protection, access to green areas or innovation are not only important components of the policies created, but are also visible in the implemented solutions that have a direct impact on the quality of life of residents.”
They care about discovering and promoting good trends that make the people of the world happier and considered 24 different areas of activity in 5 different categories, each carrying a different weight in the assessment. (DETAILS)
Minneapolis was the only city in the United States to make the list of 37 GOLDEN “HAPPIEST” CITIES (Not Ranked)
Countries with 3 cities in the “Golden” bucket were: Denmark, Switzerland, Germany, Sweden, Netherlands, Finland, United Kingdom.
