The first time I visited WA Frost was over 20 years ago, shortly after we moved to the Twin Cities. That was in the days before Internet accessibility, and my family gave me a book of interesting local restaurant menus for Mother's Day with the assignment of choosing the restaurant where I would like to celebrate the day. I chose the patio of WA Frost and have been hooked ever since!
This elegant restaurant is housed in a historic turn-of-the century building in St. Paul's Ramsey Hill neighborhood near the St. Paul Cathedral. It features delicious upscale American cuisine, but what makes it such a memorable destination is its exceptional historic ambiance blended with the food and drink.
Its interior space has wonderful old-world character with brick, wood, embossing, numerous fireplaces… a perfect destination for special occasions or cozying up by the fire on a chilly winter's night. You can almost feel the history as you spend time in its multiple dining rooms, bar and cozy downstairs lounge. It is said F. Scott Fitzgerald spent time here, and I wouldn't be surprised.
Not only is WA Frost one of the most romantic dining destinations in the Twin Cities, its patio is one of the best in the metro… with peaceful tables and lounge areas on terraced levels under towering trees surrounded by historic buildings. It is a perfect setting for relaxing on a summer evening with food, drink and conversation… one which keeps people coming back, and also keeps it at the top of many 'best' lists!
