Changing Spaces

It seems like I am almost continually reminded of how often we make transitions in our lives…and how our housing needs change accordingly. Often times it isn’t really a need for a different amount of space that prompts a housing transition…it’s a need for a different arrangement of space that fits changes in our lives and the way we live in the space.

Our housing needs follow the cycle of the rest of our lives, and over the course of the past week I have talked with people with many typical changing space needs that reflect the housing life cycle.

…leaving home or an apartment to buy a first home

…selling two single homes to combine to a first home as a couple

…a young family needing to re-arrange space after baby arrives…suddenly an upper level master suite doesn’t work as well and bedrooms on the same level is a better fit

…a household with teenagers finding that parent and child bedrooms and living spaces on different levels is a good idea again

…empty nesters thinking about moving from a house to a townhouse for freedom from yard work and more freedom to travel

…a person nearing retirement ready to be done with home ownership

…a retired person planning to move closer to children

My open house today 1 to 4 at 2658 104th Court NE in Blaine is a home ideally suited for a family transitioning with older children or for empty nesters.

It has great open living space with a luxurious master suite and laundry on the main level and additional bedrooms and family room on the walkout lower level. It’s great for Third Age transitions (I’ll talk about the Third Age another time), when you often also consider visitability for aging parents.
