Stopped by the expanded Community Center in Shoreview and I was very impressed. The new additions enhance the building’s useability and attraction. It was a cold day, maybe 6 degrees, and the parking lot was full. Inside the water park people were thankful for the warm beach-like temperatures. It’s Hawaii without the expenses! For a Saturday in Minnesota in January, it was a treat. Yes the pool area was packed, but the kids didn’t notice and the parents were happy for the diversion.
There are many attractions at the facility. Like basketball courts, workout rooms and, of course, the big water park. It’s a sight to see. The tropical themed waterpark has activities and space for all ages. Enjoy Shipwreck Beach, the ease-in shallow play area features a shipwreck boat slide, interactive splashing palm tree and water walks that are both challenging and fun. In the main pool, folks play water volleyball, slam-dunk a basketball or climb aboard some giant floating sea creatures. Family fun!
The three-story “Shark Attack” water slide is a real a treat. There people can choose from many songs and enjoy a custom light and music show as they twist and turn down the slide. Adults can choose to leave the kids at the water park and relax in the adult-only whirlpool and patio area.
The city promotes Party in the Tropics!

With all that fun stuff there are also party and public area with a concession stand, too.
As a community center there are city offices and information. You can a get building permit, then go for a swim in the same building!
At the Center you can meet people, get involved, feel more energized, feel more productive and improve the quality of your life by participating in one of many programs.
As an aside, dive-in movies are back! (pun intended)
I love the name “dive-in movies”! On selected evenings at the Center you can soak or play in the pool while watching a family movie. For my generation we were happy if the the post speakers were wired and working and the insect repellent did its job.Â
Go, have some fun!
