Welcome new Guest Author Mike Otto of Fair and Square Remodeling

Inspector Reuben, who has been guest posting here every Tuesday since 2008, first connected me with Mike Otto about a year ago when I asked him for a recommendation to give an estimate for  complete home renovation. Then he connected us again when Mike was the inspiration for my  "Can I trust you?"  post. I was looking to add a guest author to add another dimension and as I learned more about Mike's philosophy he seemed like a natural fit to contribute remodeling insights a couple times a month.

Welcome, Mike Otto of Fair and Square Remodeling.

Mike believes in and lives his core values: Integrity, prosperity, community, education and humor.

Mike believes that truly listening to people helps him be an active problem solver in home remodeling.  Giving clients that uncommon courtesy helps him to help them make their dreams come true.

He is passionate around the concept that education can help you change the way you think. If you change the way you think, you can change the world. On the local level with his business, when you change your house, in many ways, you change the quality of your life.

By surrounding himself with dynamic people, he brings a true team of artisans to the table to do creative problem solving to make dreams come true.

Mike is currently the General Manager of Fair & Square Remodeling and has worked in the remodeling industry for nearly 20 years.

As a leader in the Greater Minneapolis community, Mike strives to make a difference across all barriers.

  • Facilitated delivery of over 4000 dictionaries to inner city schools through Minneapolis Rotary
  • Leads the First Covenant Church Construction Outreach through Urban Homeworks to build homes for low income families
  • Participates in initiatives that make a difference worldwide
  • Founded the True North Support Group, a group where professional men can have a safe environment to support each other in the challenges of their lives and careers

His definition of prosperity is that if he helps others grow, then they all rise and grow together to higher levels.

Mike is an established speaker in the community and presents on home remodeling, renovation, and smart business practice topics.  Mike has also been a featured guest on Lowe’s Professional Podcasting series.

In his personal life, Mike enjoys participating in improvisational comedy and has performed on stage at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater.  An avid martial arts student, he studies at a local dojo and will be visiting some of the oldest martial arts dojos in Japan in 2013.

Mike lives with his wife, Carol, and their two boys in a restored historic 1880s home in the northern suburbs of Minneapolis.
