Which city condo view would you choose?

I showed condos in downtown Minneapolis yesterday in two very wonderful but very different complexes… both with stunning views but with distinctly different personalities.

Condo view2

The view on the left is from The Itasca, the first industrial condo conversion in Minneapolis. Done in the 1980's, it started the transformation of the North Loop into a haven for loft style condos… both historic conversions and new construction.

  • Historic 6-story building built in 1900
  • Heavy timber construction with exposed wood beams and brick walls
  • Next to Mississippi River Parkway trails and parks
  • Quiet, peaceful setting at the far end of the condo warehouse district
  • Close to the bustle of the city but set apart
  • Balcony overlooking the treetops, green space and river
  • Building includes 71 units, commercial office space, coffee shop, comedy club
  • Limited underground parking, connected by underground tunnel
  • North Loop neighborhood

The view on the right is from The Carlyle, the tallest residential building in the Twin Cities. Built a century later than The Itasca, it was created to house some of the most prestigious luxury condominiums in Minneapolis.

  • Luxurious 41-story building (39 residential) completed in 2007
  • Striking Art Deco 1920's design reminiscient of New York City's Upper East Side and Chicago's Gold Goast
  • Building includes 249 units, onsite attendant, outdoor pool terrace, fitness facility with steam room, Great Room lounge rooms for social events, wine room with temperature controlled lockers
  • Walls of windows with stunning city and river views
  • Balcony overlooking pool terrace and business district skyline
  • Sparkling night views of illuminated city buildings
  • In the heart of the city, full of energy
  • Underground parking, close to skyway system although not connected
  • Downtown West neighborhood, nameed the most livable Minneapolis neighborhood by Twin Cities METRO magazine

Both are exceptional properties with distinctly different personalities… which would you choose?
