Sunday’s Site – Science Museum of Minnesota, St. Paul

NOTE: see the bottom of Sunday's Site posts for homes for sale in the area

The website for the Science Museum of Minnesota calls itself Minnesota's Favorite Museum. I would guess they are right. I talked to two groups of people who went just in the last couple of days to see the current Titanic Omnitheater film and exhibit and both said it was filled with people…as it has been nearly every time we have visited.

But that's not a problem because this wonderful 370,000-square foot facility can handle lots of people. Built in 1999 on the bluffs overlooking the Mississpi River in downtown St. Paul, it is a city landmark which boasts wonderful views. It is just across the river from Harriet Island and the Paddelford Riverboats …great for a river ride, special events or a fun night of dinner and vaudeville aboard the Minnesota Centennial Showboat.

Like most five-year-old boys, our grandson's favorite exhibits are the dinosaurs, but this is only one part of this outstanding museum. In addition to traveling exhibits, its five permanent exhibition halls cover palentology, physical sciences and technology, the human body, peoples and cultures, and the Mississippi River. It is known worldwide for its interactive exhibits.
