Staging Historic Homes

Since I've been writing this blog, I often say:

"You need to take a lot of furniture out of the house"
"You need to take out the rugs"
"You need to take out antique furniture"
"Update the interior before you sell"  etc…….

A couple of weeks ago, I did a consultation for a couple who are selling a beautiful historic home in Minneapolis.  All my past advice was totally wrong for this house. It was right for a more modern home (built from the 1940's on), but not for this home built in 1904!

It is an absolutely beautiful home and it needed the antiques, rugs and furniture to make it show well.

Here's the front of the house:    Bryant-front3-310

And the entry…..notice the rug!  Bryant-entry-310

And finally, a bathroom:     Bryant-bath-310

So, there are times that Older is Better and antiques are great!  More pictures of this house can be seen at www.2653Bryant.com.

The lesson here is to remember to market to the target audience that will want to buy the house.
