Upcoming events and tours presented by Docomomo US/MN

“Before there was Mad Men, Design Within Reach, or Dwell there was Docomomo.”

Docomomo US is the United States chapter of Docomomo International, a non-profit organization dedicated to the documentation and conservation of buildings, sites and neighborhoods of the modern movement for more than 30 years. At present, DOCOMOMO International includes over 80 national/regional working parties (chapters) and more than 3,000 members, in Europe, Americas, Asia, Oceania and Africa.

Docomomo US/MN is the Minnesota chapter of Docomomo US, one of the most active chapters, frequently hosting tours, maintaining a “Modern Registry,” and organizing events around regional modernism.

In addition to an annual fall hour tour which you may already know about, Docomomo US/MN hosts many tours and events, such as these coming up in the following weeks and months…

  • Alcoa “Care-Free” House, 1958. Self-guided tour, Thursday, March 19, 2026, 4-6 pm
  • The Emmett Butler House in Saint Paul, 1935. Sunday, March 29, noon-2pm
  • Mid-Century Commercial Architecture in Golden Valley. Thursday, April 9, 2026, 7pm
  • Modernism on the Move: Mankato + St. Peter – Bus Tour. Saturday, May 2, 2026, ALL DAY
