I first learned about Peppermint Twist drive-in when I did a post about local drive-in restaurants 15 years ago, on July 12, 2010. Many of them are no longer in business, but Peppermint Twist in Delano is still going strong… family owned and operated since 1982. When we recently took our family to dinner there, the owner was the face welcoming us! The food is all hand prepared to order, so it may take a little longer… but it is worth it!
It is still an old-fashioned drive-in where you can order from your car and have it delivered on a tray to hang from your car window… but it is more than that. It also has big picnic grounds with room to play. When we were there, most people ordered at the window and ate in the park.
Television viewers have chosen Peppermint Twist as the best drive-in restaurant in Minnesota multiple times and KSTP paid them a special visit in 2023. The video linked below from that visit tells the story well.
Their menu is varied enough to keep coming back to try them all. It includes fabulous burgers, plus all our family favorites and more… even homemade onion rings, cheese curds, corn dogs, shakes and malts!
