Buyers’ most desired home feature

house-quiet

Buyer priorities have changed over the past year, due to both the pandemic and rising prices. According to Realtor.com searches for ‘remodeled’ homes have dropped 88%, and searches for features such as ‘granite countertops’ are down 58% as buyers make concessions due to rising prices. Furthermore, 65% of buyers surveyed said they were considering their extended family when they shopped for a home.

What is the most desired feature? Quiet

More outdoor space has become more important along with more indoor space… for family and also for pets as more households became pet owners during the pandemic. Smaller square footage isn’t in as high demand, and open floor plans have dropped in priority as more people work from home and need private spaces. Our relationship with our family has moved up in priority, as well as the need for our home to serve multiple purposes.

The top 10 homes features that have become a priority this year…

  1. Quiet location – 28%
  2. Updated kitchen – 25%
  3. Garage – 24%
  4. Large backyard – 24%
  5. Outdoor living area – 20%
  6. Space for pets – 18%
  7. Updated bathrooms – 19%
  8. Home office – 17%
  9. Broadband Internet capabilities – 17%
  10. Open floor plan – 16%
