If you have been following my blog at all you know I love homemade ice cream and am always looking for new shops to try. We visited MN Nice Cream on the gorgeous first Saturday in March that felt like spring… it felt like an ice cream day!
MN Nice Cream started as a cheerful ice cream food truck in 2016. They opened a brick and mortar shop a couple years later, and were featured on the cover of Mpls St. Paul magazine last year! You can still see the food truck around at special events and can even book it for your own private events.
I confess to being a hard ice cream snob, so I didn’t rush to try it right away, but MN Nice Cream is really more about the cones and toppings than the soft serve ice cream… just reading about their specialty selections made me smile. And yes, they have gluten free and vegan options. The colorful wall mural is bursting with fun just like the cones and toppings themselves.
John selected the CAMPER, on a chocolate dipped waffle cone with sprinkles. It included mini peanut butter cups, granola, graham crackers and sprinkles… they even roasted marshmallows fresh on the spot and asked if you wanted it topped off with edible glitter!
It wasn’t the easiest to find, and I later read that they like the idea it is somewhat hidden, like a speakeasy… an insider secret.
If you go, the address is 807 Broadway St NE, Minneapolis, but you won’t see anything but a brick wall on Broadway. Turn north on Quincy and you will find MN Nice Cream overlooking the outdoor patio at Able Seedhouse & Brewery… entrance to the building where it lives is at the end of the ramp along the building. The anticipation is part of the experience!
