4 Things to check before moving into your new home

moving3

You have finally finished packing and closing and can hardly wait to move into your new home. Here are a few things to make sure you have on your to-do list before you move in.

Change the locks

You never know how many keys are floating around. Change your locks right away so you don’t have a stranger running around with the key to your front door.

Change the toilet seats

Avoid the frustration of scrubbing your new toilet seat and hinges, wondering if you are getting it truly clean by a simple toilet seat swap. It can help you feel like it is really yours, and keep you from worrying about what happened in it before you got your keys.

Check smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors

Yes, this should have been checked at inspections, but check again for your protection. They should be replaced at least every 10 years so make sure both the detectors and batteries are up to date.

Clean cabinets and closets

Before you start to fill up your cabinets and closets give everything a thorough wipedown… it will never be easier!
