Keg and Case Market in St Paul… go for the food, go for the shopping, go for the fun!

Sharlene and I got to visit the Keg and Case in St Paul at West 7th Market 928 West Seventh Street, Saint Paul a couple weeks ago. It was named Best New Food Court 2019 by USA Today and our visit was quite an adventure!

The Keg and Case is open Monday – Friday: 10am – 8pm; Saturday: 9am – 9pm; Sunday: 9am – 6pm and is located on the historic grounds of the iconic Schmidt Brewery in St Paul. Keg and Case opened their doors in 2018 as an indoor culinary and retail marketplace and is a remarkable place to shop. Go for the food, go for the produce, go for an adventure! You won’t be disappointed.

The Keg and Case also provides a Farmers Market that is open on Thursdays 2-7 pm and Saturdays 9am-2pm with a rotating assortment of locally grown produce, art, food, flowers, wonderful local products, activities and entertainment. It is an open-air food market and community gathering place.

The Farmers Market Mission Statement states very well what they are about:

The Market is a place where regional farmers and sustainable food producers sell their goods and build relationships with consumers, where residents come to see their neighbors, be fed and entertained, and participate in the St. Paul community. There are three primary goals of the Market:

  • To Build an Alternative Food System: The Market is an outlet for delivering nutritious, conscientiously grown and locally produced foods to all members of our community regardless of income level.
  • To Foster Entrepreneurship and Support Family and Small-Scale Food Producers: The Market functions as an incubator for small-scale, local entrepreneurs, especially those in the food sector.
  • To Build Community: The Market serves the community by raising the profile of the neighborhood, reinforcing a positive image of West 7th street, and creating a site for civic engagement and entertainment.

Worthy goals, are they not!

Inside the Market are many vendors with a wide variety of goods for sale. Sharlene and I always like the Sweet Science ice cream which has a store there. Other inventive enterprises are available for your enjoyment. There are lots of vendors that offer very healthful foods, but here are my favorites, just to mention a few.

Sweet Science Ice Cream
Sweet Science Ice Cream is handcrafted with the finest organic ingredients Minnesota has to offer. Creating one-of-a-kind all-natural flavor experiences one batch at a time.

Bogart’s Doughnut Co.
Bogart’s Doughnut Co. specializes in rich, buttery brioche yeasted doughnuts and tender, from-scratch cake doughnuts. Their flavors are simple, yet delicious.

Evla Pottery
For one-of-a kind functional pottery and abstract oil paintings from a husband-and-wife team of longtime local artists.

Rose Street Patisserie
Their market stand features confections and sweet treats. Authentically French minus the airfare!

and my very favorite:

Spinning Wylde
Fresh spun and dye free cotton candy clouds made with organic cane sugar and natural flavors. Spinning out smiles in over 50 flavors with fun toppings, and a touch of whimsy!

Have fun!
