Get important insights into the condition and history of your new home

When we are working with home buyers, some of the most consistent and important questions we get are about the condition and history of a home. Our inspection partners at Structure Tech Home Inspections recently added BuildFax reports as part of their services when they inspect your home.

It distills information from construction permits to create a mini history of the property to help you better understand the condition of the home you are buying. The example above gives a summary of work done on the major systems of the house.

It includes:

  • Permits with cost estimates for work done on major components of the property
  • Contractor name and contact info so you can follow up with them and ask questions if needed
  • 20-point risk assessment to help identify potential future risk outlook for the property

The example below gives more details for the summary above. The actual report includes contractor names and contact information, as well as details of the work performed. The full report for this property is 11 pages.

Buying a home is the biggest investment many people ever make. The more informed you are, the better decisions you can make. Thank you, Structure Tech, for continuing to demonstrate your dedication to educating home buyers and sellers… and us Realtors along the way. And thank you, Reuben, for posting here every Tuesday for more than 10 years!
