What we love about the Minneapolis Fulton neighborhood… from a family who wanted to live there forever

The sellers of 5109 York Avenue South in Minneapolis bought their home nearly 11 years ago precisely because of the neighborhood… highly walkable, with good schools. They outgrew their home but stayed because they didn’t want to give up their amazing location and great neighbors. Only when they found another house not far away did they choose to move.

Here are things they loved about living in their amazing Fulton location… they wanted to live there forever!

Walking distance to a lovely park

Pershing Park is great for kids: a playground, wading pool, nice tennis courts, an annual fall festival, and a rec center with programming.

Great neighbors!

The block always has a national night out block party and sometimes blocks off the street for Halloween. Friendly, helpful people who take great care of their houses and yards and help each other out with shoveling.

Having a few things literally right around the corner (at 50th & Xerxes)

a coffee shop, a UPS store, eye doctor, etc.

Fulton Farmer’s Market

from May to October walk to the Fulton Farmer’s Market in the parking lot of Lake Harriet United Methodist Church.

Walk to 50th & France

tons of great restaurants and shopping options, not to mention events like the Edina Art Fair

Only about a mile from Linden Hills

Wild Rumpus (the best kids’ book store!), a great hardware store, Clancey’s (the BEST local butcher), Sebastian Joe’s, as well as great restaurants. Also around a mile from Lake Harriet (summer concerts and movies, the winter kite festival, the streetcar).

Great school choices

Lake Harriet is the neighborhood school option, plus magnet school of Armatage Montessori or private school Carondolet. In the Southwest HS zone.

Close to bus lines but quiet!

With 50th & Xerxes just a block away, we are on an express route (146) and a local route (6), but without the traffic since York is cut off by the creek.

Lots of public libraries nearby!

Linden Hills (1.2 miles), Edina library (2 miles), Washburn Library (2 miles), and the Southdale library (2.5 miles).

A safe and beautiful place to raise a family. 🙂
