Some things are beyond our control

We do our best to keep transactions moving smoothly and closing on time, but sometimes things happen that are simply out of our control. Our buyers who closed a few weeks ago will have stories to tell about their closing, thank to Mother Nature taking control…twice.

First, the seller was delayed in getting a new septic system installed because of torrential rains… we were just lucky we didn't get any more rain, or they would have had to wait until spring! The rains stopped, the system was installed and approved… and we thought we were home free a week after the scheduled closing.

But after turning in the paperwork for the septic system we weren't getting a response from the mortgage processor. It turns out she was evacuated because of a hurricane! So… another week delay, again out of our control, again thanks to Mother Nature.

We may have the illusion of control, but this time we just had to let go and let the storms carry us. This closing may not have gone as planned… but it wasn't boring… and it will be remembered!
