Record breaking March temperatures in the 70s have been bringing people out to enjoy these spring-like days, and what better place to enjoy them than in our numerous parks, trails and nature areas. It’s hard to find a part of the Twin Cities that doesn’t have some trail, park, lake or stream nearby.
Nestled in a quiet Golden Valley neighborhood, the 57 acres of  General Mills Research Nature Area is just one example of why American Trails named Minnesota the country’s ‘Best Trails State’.
There are no big signs or parking lots that announce this nature area, the trails simply open into the surrounding neighborhood. This is a a quiet, undeveloped limited maintenance nature area… one you may not even know is there unless you know about it.
If you are looking for more amenities, Medicine Lake, the second largest lake in the Twin Cities, is nearby. Its French Regional Park is part of the Three Rivers Park District. In addition to trails it has a visitor center, great playground, beach, boating and picnic areas for summer… and cross country skiing, sledding and snowshoeing in the winter.
People were out walking, running, biking, pushing strollers and walking with their dogs yesterday morning. It seems strange to be out without jackets in mid March, when we have historically experienced some of the biggest blizzards of the season!
Check out Golden Valley homes for sale if you would like to have the General Mills Research Nature Area in your neighborhood… then let me know if you find a home you would like to see or would like to learn more about the area!
