When the cold hits in Minnesota, movies sound mighty good. Only problem is, it can sound good to so many people that it can get crowded, especially on a holiday weekend. That's not a worry at ShowPlace Icon Theatre in St. Louis Park's West End. They not only have online and self service ticket kiosks. What is different about ShowPlace Icon is that all seating is reserved, so you not only know you have a ticket… you also know just where you will be sitting.
If you are wondering if that is a beer bottle you see next to the seat in the photo above, you are right. The other thing different about this theater is they also have a full service restaurant and bar on the upper level, where you can stop before or after the show and even bring your food and drink (including cocktails) into the theatre during the movie in the VIP section.
The upper level VIP section is available in 2 of the 14 theaters, and features extra wide leather seats with mini tables featuring a compartment for your bags, and arm rests between double seats that fold back… in the words of a friend who was with us this weekend, it's like first class airline seating.
You pay an upcharge for the VIP section, but our friends thought it was worth it. This section is only for those 21 years of age and over, but even in the standard sections parents must accompany children under 17 for all evening showings.
This theatre is located in the West End, just west of downtown Minneapolis in St. Louis Park at the southwest corner of I-394 and Hwy 100… with other delicious restaurants to stop before or after the show… or doing a little shopping…
