Last week I talked about Crystal, a suburb just west of Minneapolis that started as Crystal Lake Township about 1860 as a swath of land stretching all the way from Plymouth (Highway 169) 
to the Mississippi River that was eventually divided into four cities. Crystal, with jagged borders on the both sides, is what was left after squeezes from both sides.
New Hope is the 'squeeze' on the west side, bordering Plymouth along Highway 169. Like Crystal, New Hope doesn't have big 'destination' draws, it is just another quiet residential community much like Crystal. Perhaps one of the big draws of these communities is their affordability. Average YTD home sale price for the whole Twin Cities metro is $212,091… for New Hope it is $157,265 and for Crystal $143,404. Click here to see homes currently for sale in the area.
One of New Hope's unique destinations is the Cinema Grill, where you can watch a movie in a comfortable table setting and get something to eat at the same time. Don't come expecting fine dining, but you can enjoy casual pub-style food, beer, wine and desserts served to you while you are watching the movie. It's nice for families because the seating isn't as restrictive as in traditional theaters and there are tables for the food and drink, even if you only have popcorn and a soda.
Located in the strip mall at the corner of Winnetka and Medicine Lake Road, it is both a family destination and a great place for parties and conferences wanting to use a big screen for video presentations. We were planning to go there last Wednesday to celebrate our grandson's birthday only to find 'Toy Story 3' had been pre-empted by the Twins playoff game happening later that evening!
If you like to watch the Vikings on the big screen, the Cinema Grill is once again playing all Vikes Games! With the biggest screen in the Twin Cities and food and drink specials, it is a great place to watch your favorite football team play.
