Cleaning with Vinegar

I'm always preaching that homes must be Q-Tip clean if you want to sell.  So, part of the service we provide, is to prepare a home for sale by cleaning.

We were working with a bank this week on a home in Farmington.  This home has been forclosed and needed some work.  It didn't take us long to notice orange grime on everything.  Puzzled, we looked closer and realized that the grime was from cigarette smoking……orange and thick.  The house had been painted and new carpeting had been installed.  What we were left with was the orange grime on everything else.

We tried many cleaners and it was one product that came through for us again this week.  WHITE VINEGAR!!!  White vinegar has been a kitchen staple for many years. It has done duty as a cleaner, neutralizer, condiment, preservative and health and beauty aid. Numerous studies report that distilled white vinegar kills 99 percent of bacteria, 82 percent of molds and 80 percent of germs. Talk about antibacterial!!

Toilet1 We've used this product over most others and it works.  I've written about it before, but we had a horribly stained toilet that the Home Owner wanted to replace.   Instead of spending the money,  white vinegar was used and the toilet came completely clean.

Kitchen1 If you have a problem cleaning area, there are so many websites that show the uses of vinegar, it's worth looking up. There are places you can't use vinegar (like on marble), so make sure to check before you do.  But I had to write about this again today, because all the orange grime is gone from the Farmington home and it's on the market!
