Intensive Care

Intensivecare1 This week has been one involving a great amount of intensive care in our household…with constantly changing situations and both our new granddaughter and her mother literally in ICU.  It is also part of a much bigger process embracing life and setting priorities…one involving a mix of emotions and situations…not unlike buying or selling a home!

Anyone who has been involved in buying or selling a home knows that it requires an intensive amount of time and care…and is a process involving a mix of emotions, situations and priorities…hmm, sounds like life!

  • If you are selling it may involve determining whether the market supports a price where you can afford to sell, passing inspections, decluttering, fixups, staging…then keeping your home in showing condition while scores of people come to look at it and you find somewhere to 'hang out' while they are there…at this point you may even feel homeless because your home staged for selling may no longer feel like your home!
  • If you are buying it may involve figuring out how much home you can afford, getting approved for a mortgage, determining where you want to live, what type and style of home work best for you at this point in your life, what amenities and sense of place are important to you
  • At some point a buyer and seller come together and it's a matter of each one setting priorities of what is most important…price, condition, timeline, etc…or just coming to an agreement and making a move…most of the time it involves some compromise from each side
  • Both buyers and sellers know the move itself perhaps requires the most intensive time and care of the whole process…but it also can yield the greatest rewards, as you embrace the next stage of your life!
