Hopkins School District has long been known for its outstanding educational programs, and in 2008 Hopkins High School was once again ranked in the top 5% of high schools in the nation.
As part of its school system a number of schools also include a community center. Eisenhower Elementary School, which also includes a Chinese immersion program, is one of those community centers.
We were at the Eisenhower Community Center recently for one of our granddaughter's elementary school traveling basketball league games. The center includes a gym, swimming pool, theater and classrooms for meetings and adult education classes.
What is unique about this center is that it also includes an observatory dome with a telescope to discover the moon, planets, stars and constellations. The Eisenhower Observatory is open to the public on scheduled evenings during the school year.
