We had a sleepover at our house on Friday night with two of our grandchildren and when we awoke to the beautifully falling snow on Saturday morning I couldn't help but think about the song "Over the river and through the woods to Grandmother's house we go…" It seemed fitting with the biggest holiday weeks of the year upon us to make Grandpa and Grandma's house the site of the week…I'm sure many will soon be making that journey.
From a grandparent's perspective we feel so fortunate to be able to see our children and grandchildren every week for our Wednesday night dinners, but that isn't quite the same as a sleepover with just the grandkids! It's such a joy to see their beaming faces and the excitement in their eyes. We played games, made cookies, read books, sang songs, watched movies, and played in the snow…a fun time was had by all!!
