It’s the weekend of the two oldest Minneapolis art fairs!

The first weekend in August is typically the Minneapolis art fair trifecta tradition… with hundreds of thousands of people heading to Uptown, Powderhorn Park and Loring Park. This year Loring Park had its art fair last weekend so you only have to pick between two!

Uptown Art Fair radiating from the intersection of Hennepin Avenue and Lake Street is the one that started it all, 53 years ago. We started going over 40 years ago, and it has grown to become the #1 art fair in Minnesota and the 8th in the nation. Nearly 400,000 people visit annually, making it second in attendance only to the State Fair. In runs Friday-Sunday so today is the last day… you still have time!

Powderhorn Art Fair is celebrating its 25th year this year at Powderhorn Park, 3400 15th Ave South in Minneapolis. This is the one we attended this year, the most relaxed of the three in a pastoral setting on a 66 acre park around a lake. It runs Saturday-Sunday.

Loring Park Art Fair is in its 17th year at Loring Park across from Walker Art Center. At the edge of downtown Minneapolis, it has an urban vibe around a pond…this year it featured 140 visual artists. It took place last weekend this year, not sure if they will all be the same weekend again next year.

The Twin Cities is known for the arts and this weekend celebrates juried visual artists both local and national in these three fabulous fairs. If you haven't gone yet… get out and enjoy!
