5 Local Coffee Shops Styled to Impress

As the weather starts to cool, we love to enjoy a warm and beautifully crafted hot beverage from a local Twin Cities coffee shop. And we have a little secret… we might just enjoy the curated ambiance of a place as much (or maybe more) than the drink in our hands! The fall is a wonderful time to call a friend and explore a new coffee shop together; and preferably one with fabulous ambiance. Our team at Rooms With Style is happy to share our top picks for our favorite destinations that feature great coffee and gorgeous interiors.

The Fox and Pantry- Plymouth, Minnesota

The Fox and Pantry is a unique hidden gem located in Plymouth. In the morning, they serve up coffee and pastries. In the evening, the shop doubles as a private event space as well as a gathering space for classes like cookie decorating, floral arranging and pasta making. Homey with a touch of glam, this shop boasts the most beautiful interiors. Their solid wood coffee bar with gorgeous pendant lights hanging above it is charming. The comfy chairs make it feel like you are right at home.

Cafe Astoria- West Seventh, Saint Paul

Cafe Astoria is a neighborhood staple in St. Paul. Their drinks taste as lovely as they look (try the Bee Sting), and their location is fabulous. Situated off of Grand Avenue and West Seventh Street, this cafe is known for its eclectic charm. You will be surrounded by original brick interiors, greenery from their large collection of plants, a beautifully tiled espresso bar, vintage lighting, and a stunning wall mural. If you haven’t been, this cafe should be on your short list to visit this fall!

Backstory Coffee Roasters- North Loop, Minneapolis

Backstory Coffee Roasters’ North Loop location feels homey and inspiring. Their large co-working space is beautifully furnished with mid-century modern style furnishings that feel elevated but also down-to-earth. The living wall surrounding the fireplace is the first thing you will notice. Natural light from the windows above floods the space while accent lighting keeps it cozy. Try a maple cold brew and enjoy the ambiance!

Coffeesmith- Forest Lake, Minnesota

Coffeesmith is a breath of fresh air located in the north eastern metro. Built in one of the town’s most historic homes, this renovated space stays true to its roots, and at the same time it is hip, funky and modern. We love the original woodwork throughout the home, the black honeycomb tile, brass lighting, and the beautiful bathroom murals. Coffeesmith serves Duluth Coffee Company beans and milk from the local dairy (Autumnwood Farm), so you know your coffee is going to be amazing.

Dogwood Coffee- University Avenue, Saint Paul

Dogwood Coffee has a new location off of University Avenue that deserves a spot on our beautiful interiors list. Walk inside and you will be greeted with colorful floral wallpaper, vintage tin ceilings, and a gorgeous dark wood coffee bar. Dogwood is one of the oldest local coffee roasters in the cities, so you can count on a curated coffee menu to match their curated shop design.
