“Home is not where you are from, it is where you belong.” – Beau Taplin

We were honored to have a client invite us to celebrate the day he officially broke his record of living in his house “the longest of the 45 addresses I’ve had in my long and meandering life… and finally finding where I belong.”
You can see on his face how much he loves living where he is. He explains it in his own words below… and in his pictures below that.
Nearly seven years ago I moved to the magical little town of Red Wing, Minnesota, not knowing anyone here, not knowing that I would fit in, and certainly not knowing that I would fall in love with the place and my place in it. The time I’ve spent living in my wheezy old Tudor Revival cottage is now longer than any of the 45 addresses I’ve had in my long, meandering, ridiculous life. For the first time, I’ve made friends, put down roots, and have been able to find outlets for my creative endeavors that have helped me to become a part of fabric of this wee river city.
I am blessed with the grace of finally finding where I belong, and I daily cling to that gift. I daily remember to keep my eyes and my heart open to the peace and happiness that come from roots growing deep and wide here. For all the friends I’ve met and all the music I’ve shared and all the photographs I’ve made and all the connections I’ve created to all the fine folks in the stores and restaurants who are so friendly and helpful and for the closeness to fun twisty roads, the beloved bluffs and coulees and Old Man River burbling along just five blocks from my forever home and for the pride I feel for this place, I thank The Maker and I thank everyone who have supported me throughout my wandering and now settling. My greatest wish is that everyone across this poor world of ours can find where their roots belong, too.

Where you live can have a profound effect on you… if it doesn’t fit, your life can feel out of synch. You may not even realize it, but somehow being at home doesn’t refresh and nurture you as it should. We sometimes forget that place exists on so many levels…from the universe to our own back yard.
