“Barbecue may not be the road to world peace, but it’s a start.” ~ Anthony Bourdain
NOTE: I spend my Wednesdays Unplugged from appointments. It’s my day to stay home, enjoy cooking and welcome our kids and grandkids for dinner in the evening. We end our meal with quotes from the Norwegian ‘Quote Cup’ passed on to me from my grandmother. I share a quote and a recipe here each week, along with an update and photos of what has been going on in our lives. I love trying new recipes…and love getting recipes you would like to share!

We started our barbecue season this week with our son’s famous ribs… everyone was happy. I also finished the puzzle our daughter gave me for Mother’s Day… very fun!
RECIPE OF THE WEEK
I found this recipe many different places online, and with strawberries on sale this week it was a perfect dessert that everyone loved. I read that this was Jackie Kennedy’s favorite dessert, which she loved to serve when she was in the White House. The mix of sour cream and whipped cream gives it a delicious tang.

STRAWBERRIES ROMANOFF
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon brandy or 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 4 cups fresh strawberries
Mix sour cream, brown sugar and brandy or vanilla in a bowl.
In a separate bowl, whip cream until it starts to thicken, add sugar an mix until thick.
Fold cream into sour cream mixture and blend well.
Serve with fresh strawberries.
