“There is just one life for each of us: our own.” – Euripedes
NOTE: I spend my Wednesdays Unplugged from appointments. It’s my day to stay home, enjoy cooking and welcome our kids and grandkids for dinner in the evening. We end our meal with quotes from the Norwegian ‘Quote Cup’ passed on to me from my grandmother. I share a quote and a recipe here each week, along with an update and photos of what has been going on in our lives. I love trying new recipes…and love getting recipes you would like to share!

When I pulled up the recipe for Alpha’s Pancakes to make this week I realized it has been 15 years since I published it so thought it was time to publish it again… it’s a recipe that consistently gets raves and requests for the recipe. I also found the photo above of John and our granddaughter from the last time I published it, and had to take an updated photo of the two of them! She was happy that her school orchestra audition went well last week… she made it into the top orchestra and now is working to get ready for GTSYS auditions!
RECIPE OF THE WEEK
This week’s recipe hails back to my college days, over 55 years ago! It from the aunt of one of my roommates, who was a gourmet cook. This recipe never fails, although I failed to take a photo! The stock photo below is close… I even served it with strawberries and blueberries.

ALPHA’S AWESOME PANCAKES
- 4 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups sour cream
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 1 cups flour
- 1 tablespoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
Mix and cook on ungreased griddle. Add blueberries and other fruit as desired. Serve with genuine maple syrup.
