Perks of buying a home

Buying a home has many advantages when you compare it to renting. When I teach a first time homebuyer class, I’ll ask students why they want to buy a home. There are always some answers that surprise me but several come back to the same things!

One thing potential homeowners mention is the ability to paint their homes and decorate it the way they want. Sometimes renters can paint the walls inside but not always. Owning your home allows you to transform your space the way you want it.

Another thing that is mentioned is being able to have a garden for vegetables or flowers. Many homeowners like to have a garden of some type or just different flowers around their home.

Maybe you want to have an outdoor kitchen or a patio that you can entertain on. This is another option people will bring up.

For others it is just being able to have a pet and not worry about restrictions.

Depending on the home you buy, these can all be options. If you buy a townhome or condo, you may have some limitations on what you can do outside, but inside you can do what you want.

The other things that people would bring up are financial security, knowing that they should be building equity in their home. Most homes will appreciate in value, it’s never a guarantee, but typically homes will appreciate in value.

They also like knowing their payment won’t change – other than taxes and insurance! Most homebuyers are using a fixed rate mortgage, so that part of the payment doesn’t change.

Why do you want to buy a home? Let us help you find the home you are looking for! Then you will have your own space to create your dreams.
