We were looking for a new place to stop for Sunday Brunch a couple weeks ago and in my Internet surfing I discovered The High Hat at 485 Selby Avenue in St. Paul. Visit St. Paul listed it as a great new restaurant to try, and it is next to The Yarnery in the Ramsey Hill Historic District. It sounded like it was worth a visit… and it was!!

It isn’t very big and they don’t take reservations, but we got there at just the right time before noon on Sunday and got one of the last tables right away… a beautiful day, so there were tables available both inside and outside which helped. Led by former W.A. Frost general manager Michael Noyes, it has a cozy, homey feel.
The interesting menu has Southwest and South American influences. I ordered cornbread benedict, and it came with fried plantains. Not-to-be-missed is the Skillet-Baked-Caramel-and-Pecan Roll or Cinnamon Roll. We ordered one for the table of four of us, and it disappeared in an instant!
We were all impressed… and there is much more on the menu to try… I am sure we will be back!
