How to close on a house in Minnesota when you are traveling on the other side of the world

Problem-solving is one of the qualities often called upon in real estate transactions. At the end of last year it turned out that my buyer was going to be out of the country when everything would be ready to close on his home purchase. That didn’t shut down the transaction. Many things can now be done electronically, but the closing documents needed to be signed in ink. Working with his lender and our closer he was able to give his daughter Power of Attorney to sign for him in his absence and he became a homeowner while traveling on the other side of the world.

Life happens and sometimes things don’t work out exactly as planned, but with patience and working together work-around solutions can often be found.
