When I read in this Sunday’s Star Tribune that “Minnesota has become the epicenter of a sauna revival” it resonated with me. My sister-in-law is Finnish, and a sauna has always been a part of their lives… at their lake home, but they also built saunas at their city homes. A couple I am working with who just came to an agreement on a home overlooking a suburban lake said they plan to add a sauna.
There are many places were you can rent saunas, the Start Tribune article above included a list… and many hotels have saunas. Many condos and townhouse associations also have saunas… and you can buy free standing home saunas to put in your house.
But how many homes currently listed for sale have saunas?
The Star Tribune article said, “Â From Grand Marais to Golden Valley, sauna ‘revival’ grows across Minnesota.” I did an MLS search and found 61 total homes currently listed for sale with a sauna… spread across the state as you can see in the map. Not surprisingly, 22 were lakefront properties but some were in the city.
Of the 61 properties listed for sale with a sauna, the least expensive was a one-bedroom condo in St. Paul for $88,500… the most expensive was a 35-acre resort for $6,500,000. Have fun checking them out.
Want to buy your own home with a sauna? Let me know… I will be happy to set up a sauna search for you!
