The Buttered Tin, founded by James Beard-recognized chef and Cupcake Wars winner Alicia Hinze, has been known for its scratch-made eats and treats since it opened in St. Paul’s Lowertown in 2013. That is on the other side of the world for our breakfast, and we didn’t discover the wonderfulness of The Buttered Tin until 2017. I immediately sang its praises here and it jumped to the top of my ‘worth a drive’ spots! Only it was on the other side of town and parking wasn’t easy… of course that made the times we made it over there even more special.
I was elated when I crossed the Lowry bridge one day to discover The Buttered Tin Northeast opened about a year ago at the corner of Marshall and Lowry!
We stopped a couple weeks ago, and their Huevos Rancheros Benedict are just as fabulous in Northeast Minneapolis as they are in St. Paul… still the best I have ever had anywhere! On a whim we added a Blueberry Hand Pie to our order… as you can see by the photo below, it didn’t last long… also fabulous!
They were offering a special on their Pumpkin Spice Cinnamon Rolls to go when we were there… so we also took some home with us. I just baked them this morning… also fabulous.
The even bigger surprise was I saw boxes of frozen The Buttered Tin cinnamon rolls in the freezer case at Lunds and Byerly’s the last time I was there… no longer a need to drive across town… except for the Huevos Rancheros Benedict, and hand pies, and…(MENU)!!!
