“Love is not the softest force but often the fiercest.” – Krista Tippett
NOTE: I spend my Wednesdays Unplugged from appointments. It’s my day to stay home, enjoy cooking and welcome our kids and grandkids for dinner in the evening. We end our meal with quotes from the Norwegian ‘Quote Cup’ passed on to me from my grandmother. I share a quote and a recipe here each week, along with an update and photos of what has been going on in our lives. I love trying new recipes…and love getting recipes you would like to share!
We celebrated our wedding anniversary last Sunday with dear friends John and Beata who got married the same day, same year… 51 years of fierce love. We have been celebrating together for over 20 years, but what sets this one apart is that Beata fell on their last day in Portugal… and has very colorful eyes!!! This year we went old school and went to Murray’s, Home of the Butterknife Steak since 1946… that’s even older than we are!!
RECIPE OF THE WEEK
We grilled hot dogs for the grandkids this week, but salmon for me and our son. I wanted a sauce and found this recipe by Claudia Dawn at Food.com. It also makes my favorites list, great savory/sweet balance. Make more if you want sauce to pass.
FAVORITE GRILLED SALMON SAUCE
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons soy sauce
- 1⁄2 teaspoon pepper
- 1⁄2 teaspoon minced fresh ginger (or ginger powder)
In a small saucepan, combine ingredients. Cook and stir until sugar is dissolved. Brush on salmon while grilling.
