In this world of frenzied buyer competition my clients were thrilled this week when their offer was the one accepted on a very unique property in the St. Paul Highview neighborhood. The 83-year-old farmhouse has the stamp of architect renovations with amazing light-filled spaces on an acre of land that makes it feel like a farmstead in the city.
What it doesn’t have is a great garage. We had a walkthrough consultation with awesome Inspector George from Structure Tech Home Inspections when we visited the property before making the offer, and as we discussed things he talked about the garage… suggested including plans for an ADU when rebuilding the garage. My buyers loved the idea, thought it would be perfect for a studio.
When I saw the article above from Dwell Magazine it immediately made me think of them… and also of our son, who has talked of adding an ADU to their garage.
The article talks about how friends scoured Facebook Marketplace and local salvage centers to remake the 600-square-foot space into a homey creative workspace. The transformation is as amazing as their low budget. Four Minnesota Housemates Turn Their Dingy Garage Into a Workspace for $26K
