Thinking about selling but holding back because getting your house ready to sell feels like too big a job? How long it takes is different for everyone, but the sellers of the house pictured above got their house ready in record time. They were a young family with two young kids and an at-home daycare so couldn’t work on getting it ready to show and sell until they moved out and got their daycare licensed at the new location first.
They closed on their new home September 17, 2021… then took two and a half weeks to move and take care of fixups. It was listed as Coming Soon on October 1, staging and photo shoot took place October 5, and listing was active and ready for showings October 8. They happily accepted an offer October 11.  PHOTOS  MLS LISTING
The market wasn’t as crazy as it was this spring, when they may have had 10 offers or more… and they didn’t have enough time and energy to make it showing perfect… but it still showed well and they accepted a good offer with only 3 days on the market. It will close November 12, less than 2 months after closing on their new home. Not bad for not even thinking seriously about moving until August!!
This young family up-sized, so it wasn’t the same process as downsizing, where the slowest part of the whole process is often dealing with your stuff. Downsizers often take months or even years to get ready to sell. Even if you don’t plan to move, clearing out your excess ‘stuff’ can be very freeing… and can help you get ready for a quick move when the time comes.
