Relocation… the new build solution

relocation-new build2

Relocation is always hard. Multiply that by a Covid-19 winter in a city with record low inventory and it becomes harder and harder and harder. After looking at dozens of pre-owned possibilities and new construction options, these relocation buyers chose to talk with a local builder whose homes and quality workmanship they admired on their search. When they learned a great lot just came available that same morning they were getting close to deciding to move forward.

Then we visited the site and a neighbor came over to give rave reviews of the builder who both builds and lives in the community. Not only did Thorson Homes build their home, they were building a home for their daughter as well!

The more my clients learned about the Thorson building process the more convinced these relocation buyers were that it was time to make the decision to move forward with a new custom build before this outstanding lot was gone. You can see by the smiling faces of the family on the lot where their new home will be that they agreed!

At the end of December 2020 new construction accounted for 33.8% of Twin Cities inventory, down 30.4% from December 2019. If you have been looking for homes and are coming up empty, don’t discard new construction or even a custom build as an option without talking to a builder… you may be pleasantly surprised.

These buyers were thrilled to learn that Thorson Homes is family-owned, with hands on throughout the process. In their own words…

Thorson Homes strives to be one of the best twin cities home builders. We work with you right from the beginning, are very receptive to your concerns, and are working at the build site every day. We pride ourselves on really listening and communicating with the families we build for and being hands-on all throughout the construction of your new home. In other words, we are small enough to give you the attention you deserve, yet large enough to provide a quality home that will reflect your personal taste.

Right now they are nearing the end of the first phase where plans are finalized and all the finish options are selected. The price will then be calculated so there are no surprises. They estimated this phase would take a couple months, which will take us into February. If everything looks good, the contract will be drawn up and signed… and they will proceed with construction to be completed late summer. These buyers are lucky to have temporary housing during this phase.

I will report back later… don’t expect everything to proceed with no glitches, this is real life after all. But at this point we expect everyone to be smiling at the end like the happy and satisfied neighbor who came over to welcome them at the beginning of the process!
