Although green money may also be what people want, I am talking about the green you find in nature. A study done by Ikea internationally found that people want more access to nature and predict homes will become lighter and greener.
We have seen the trend toward light and bright for a couple years now. The deep dark heavy colors throughout a home has gone by the wayside. People are renovating their homes and building homes with more and larger windows, paint colors are very light as is flooring.
Outdoor living spaces are key and you see many roof top terraces in condominium complexes as well as hotels and restaurants.
You don’t need to do a complete remodel to bring in earthy elements. A fresh coat of paint can lighten your home and greenery can bring the outside in.
I am dating myself but I remember as a kid when homes were filled with greenery everywhere. And I mean everywhere! Walls, tops of kitchen cabinets, every nook and tabletop. And it was bad plastic greenery.
I don’t think we will get back to those days but greenery is definitely in vogue and the ‘fake’ plants look so real now it is sometimes hard to tell the difference. If you are updating to sell or stay…considering bringing in some updated greens, in a subtle way.
Places like Ikea, Target, and Hobby Lobby have great greenery.
