It was a bright, sunny day today that just screamed to get out and enjoy it! We walked some neighborhoods rather than heading to parks and lakes to safely keep our distance. Didn’t encounter anyone… perfect for social distancing.
But we were getting hungry… how to eat out in the days of social distancing. We found the perfect solution… the iconic Minnetonka Drive In at 4658 Shoreline Drive in  Spring Park, MN 55384. Other people were obviously getting stir crazy as well and many cars had families with kids in tow. Vehicles were obediently lined up with no social interaction, enjoying the spring sunshine.
Minnetonka Drive In was opened by Gordon and Jeanette Bennyhoff and their 8 children in 1961 to fulfill their dream of owning their own business. Now owned by one of their sons, they still retain a family atmosphere.
Thursday nights have traditionally been classic car night… not sure if that may change with COVID-19, but with or without the classic cars it is still a classic mid-century drive in!
Located on the in the heart of Minnetonka lake country this retro fast food joint complete with car hops is surrounded by lakes, with Highway 15 in front and Dakota Rail Trail in back. It’s enough to make you think spring and forget about being cooped up inside for at least a little bit!
