Arezzo Ristorante… high quality, authentic Sicilian cuisine, all handmade

When I heard from a former colleague that she was going to be in town I suggested meeting for lunch at Arezzo Ristorante at France and 51st, at the southern edge of the 50th & France shopping district. We met there for lunch about 20 years ago so it felt appropriate to meet there again. I hadn’t eaten at Arezzo for a long time, and it was also an opportunity to remind me to stop again… it was as good, if not better than I remembered!! They make fresh homemade pasta every morning, and cook their bread and pizza in their brick oven… which they were doing long before it became the thing to do. Everything is hand made, and the outstanding quality is noticeable. No wonder it has been given an Award of Excellence by Wine Spectator Magazine and has been voted City’s Best Italian Food. It has also been voted the Most Romantic Restaurant, Top Ten Best Pizza, Prettiest Restaurant… and the list goes on.

I love the intimate size of this restaurant that has a comfortable, cozy feeling as a great bistro to walk over for lunch or fresh pizza… and also has a romantic, elegant style for a special evening dinner. It’s easy to overlook this restaurant at the end of ‘the strip’… it’s not one of the new ones, it has stood the test of time.
