I find data fascinating, and I always look forward to the annual profiles of buyers and sellers compiled by the National Association of Realtors. There were a number of records set this year, including the six below…
- Only 13% of homes purchased were new – an all-time low
- Only 8% of homes sold were For Sale By Owner – the lowest on record
- The average first-time home buyer was 33 years old – the oldest on record
- 17% of first-time home buyer couples were unmarried – a historically high rate
- The average non-first-time home buyer was 55 years old – tied with 2008 for the oldest
- 16% of home sellers bought closer to family – the most popular reason for the first time
The infographics below released by the National Association of Realtors paint an interesting picture of today’s buyers and seller.
