In 2012 I did a post about the Minneapolis neighborhoods with the highest walk scores and was reminded that it is time for an update! At that time Downtown West was #1 with a WalkScore of 91… now, in 2019, Downtown West has a higher WalkScore of 92, but ranks #4! It is interesting to see how the neighborhoods with the highest Walk Scores in 2012 have shifted in 2019.
The neighborhoods that WalkScore.com uses aren’t all the same as the official city neighborhoods, but are very descriptive. The neighborhoods with the two highest WalkScores this year are Lyn-Lake (96) and Uptown (92)… not official neighborhoods but what the people who live here call these areas, and at the heart of massive development.
According to WalkScore.com, in 2019 Minneapolis has an overall WalkScore of 69, a TransitScore of 57 and BikeScore of 82. Minneapolis is the 12th most walkable large city in the US, according to WalkScore.com.
