Well, as always the Loring Park Arts Festival didn’t disappoint. There was lots of great art, as usual. Even the temperature and humidity were perfect. But the people, wow. Here’s a great place to “people watch”. Every one of us is different one from another. It’s amazing is how complex each of us are. People are fascinating, right?
What motivates us? What interests us? What drives us? What culture has to do with who we are? In “culture” I mean “all” cultures. Not necessarily foreign culture, but small town culture, farming culture, big city culture.
The Loring Park Festival is this microcosm of many, many cultures. Do you remember the captioned photograph of two young boys with their cowboy boots and hats on, looking at the ground and saying “Been farming long?”
Look around you. There are more people that are different from you than alike. Use their talents as well as your own to make us a community.
You get another opportunity next weekend with the Uptown Art Fair and the Powderhorn Art Fair, what signals the end of art fair season with state fair season not far behind… where you can see an even greater mingling of all “cultures”!
