Lake Nokomis… a quieter lake on the Grand Rounds

nokomis1

Minneapolis is the ‘city of lakes’ and summer finds Minneapolitans out enjoying our lakes and streams. Lake Nokomis is not as well known as Lake Harriet and Bde Maka Ska but is also on the Grand Rounds Scenic Parkway. It is close to Minnehaha Parkway and Minnehaha Creek and is easy to miss it as a place to stop as you whizz by on your way to more well-known destinations.

We were there last Saturday as a triathlon was drawing to a close, and even then it didn’t have the droves of people you often find at other popular city lakes. Looking for a peaceful city lake? Check out Lake Nokomis, you might be pleasantly surprised. It’s also a great place to live!
