The first weekend in June officially starts the summer art fair season, at least in my mind. The big one is the Edina Art Fair, which is one of the top art fairs in the nation and runs from Friday through Sunday at the corner of 50th and France. It celebrates its 53rd year this year with 280 artists.
The St. Anthony Park Arts Festival runs only one day, Saturday, and this marks its 50th year. We stopped yesterday and I loved the more relaxed feel of this neighborhood arts festival.
We started at the beautiful Carnegie library which sponsors this community event. I loved the relaxed, creative energy at this festival, with kids activities scattered throughout, lots of dogs, live music and room to roam. I also loved that they had a live poetry table where you could fill out an order form, pay $5 and wait around while a poem was written just for you!
We stopped today at the last day of the Edina Art Fair… lots of people, great artisans and a perfect day!
Miss this opening art fair weekend? Don’t worry… there will be plenty more arts and music festivals all summer, such as the Stone Arch Bridge Festival June 14-16, 2019!
