Spring Home Maintenance Check-Up

spring check upThe leaves are budding and ‘green’ is in the air… time for your exterior spring maintenance check-up. Whether or not you are selling your home this year, here are some things to put on your list to help keep your home in top shape.

  • Clean your gutters – this can be easy to miss, especially if you are short like me, but clogged gutters can lead to water issues
  • Check for peeling, chipping paint – even if you have maintenance free siding (which may need a power wash), don’t miss windows, doors and door frames, thresholds
  • Clean window screens – ok, wash windows too, but don’t overlook removing screens, cleaning them with soapy water and a brush, and repairing any holes or tears
  • Refresh your deck and patio – power wash, make any needed repairs, paint/seal surfaces if appropriate
  • Service your air conditioner – now is the time to trim shrubs and plants around your AC unit and have it checked out by service professionals, before you have problems when you really need it and service companies are swamped
  • Repair your sidewalks and driveway – repair cracks, uneven spots
  • Service your sprinkler system – test to make sure it is working properly, replace broken sprinkler heads, make adjustments for proper coverage

You’re welcome for giving you an excuse to get outside and enjoy the green!
