Real estate is local, and each state appreciates at different levels. According to the Home Price Index from CoreLogic, United States home prices appreciated nationally by 4.7% in 2018. You can see 2018 year-over-year price changes by state on the map below.
Only North Dakota and Louisiana saw a slight decline, while the majority saw at least a 2% gain in home values. Minnesota saw a 5.3% gain according to CoreLogic.
Looking ahead to 2019, CoreLogic forecasts that every state will experience at least 2.0% appreciation, with an average of 4.6% for the year. Minnesota appreciation is predicted at 5.0% in 2019, just a little lower than the 5.3% appreciation in 2018.
