Most of the clients that I have worked with have heard that question from me. Many get a puzzled look on their face and some get downright scared. Especially the men!
I usually throw out that question when I am talking to them about their lighting. Lighting is a key factor whether you are staging your home for sale or updating it for enjoyment. Lighting will always give a room lighting; but I think it should also give a room character!
Lighting should make a statement and leave an impression. This couldn’t be more important than when you are selling your home. Have the buyer remember your home as the one with the amazing light fixtures.
A great way to do that is by adding a little bling. You know….something that sparkles.
Crystals, dangles, bobbles and just plain glam. The Master Bedroom and Bath are a perfect place for that.
It doesn’t mean it’s feminine but it may be romantic. It doesn’t mean it’s tacky as it should always be classy.
Light fixtures with bling are not FOR every room and they should not be IN every room. The sayings….”a little goes a long way” or “less is more” apply to bling in your light fixtures.
My favorite rooms to add some bling are in the Dining Room and Master Bedroom.
I understand this may be out of your comfort zone. If you are selling you won’t be living with it long term and it’s all about the buyer and capturing their attention in a good way.
If it’s for updating your home it’s okay to start slow….maybe a light fixture with just a little bling or perhaps just in one room. What do you have to loose? It’s only a light fixture and you may really love it.
