Ok, this is a tough one to answer because there are so many fabulous bakeries in the Twin Cities! I am not saying there aren’t other wonderful lemon meringue pies out there, but when we had family driving through who wanted to make a quick stop for dessert the first place that came to mind was the 50’s Grill in Brooklyn Park. And I was going for the lemon meringue pie!
This isn’t a ‘foodie’ restaurant or a patisserie with beautiful delicacies, which I also love… but if you are looking for simple, homemade deliciousness this is the place. Neither the base nor the meringue has the rubbery consistency so often found in this kind of pie. Both were light, airy, flavorful and delicious!
